The Greek American community of Chicago is mourning the passing of Frank S. Kamberos, a chief of the local community who died final week. He was 98.

Kamberos, a native of Chicago, was a person of excellent generosity, and a businessman who afforded a foothold to lots of Greek immigrants. He also financed the construction of the Countrywide Hellenic Museum’s Frank S. Kamberos Oral Record Centre.

He attended Illinois Institute of Know-how and served in US Air Corps throughout WWII in England, France, and Germany.

In 1962, together with his brothers, Chris and George, he founded Treasure Island Foodstuff, Inc.

A leader in the neighborhood, Kamberos was active in lots of organizations, which includes United Hellenic American Congress, Management 100, the Hellenic Basis, and other people.

He experienced served on the Board of Administrators of the Countrywide Hellenic Museum since 2005. He financed the design of the Frank S. Kamberos Oral Heritage Heart, a electronic recording and playback module that properties the stories of the Greek immigrant expertise in the United States.
